The Sri Lanka Irrigation Department has officially announced the Engineering Assistant Grade III Open Competitive Examination 2026. Applications are now invited from qualified Sri Lankan citizens for 102 Engineering Assistant vacancies. Candidates with Civil Engineering diploma qualifications can apply online through the Department of Examinations website.

Educational & Professional Qualifications
Applicants must have passed G.C.E. O/L and G.C.E. A/L in relevant Mathematics and Science subjects. In addition, candidates should possess one of the recognized Civil Engineering diploma qualifications such as:
- National Diploma in Civil Engineering
- Higher National Diploma in Civil Engineering
- National Engineering Diploma (Civil)
- Open University Technical Diploma (Civil Engineering)
- NVQ Level 6 equivalent Civil Engineering qualification
Age Limit
Applicants must be between 18 and 30 years as of the closing date of applications.
Selection Process
Recruitment will be based on:
- Written Competitive Examination
- General Interview
- Verification of Qualifications
The written examination will consist of an Intelligence Test carrying 100 marks. Candidates must obtain at least 40 marks to qualify.
