A major update has been reported regarding the Graduate Teaching Recruitment Examination 2026 conducted for recruitment to the Sri Lanka Teachers' Service (SLTS).

Prime Minister and Education Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya informed Parliament that the competitive examinations connected with the recruitment of more than 23,000 teachers have already been conducted and that evaluation and marking of examination papers is currently underway.

Cabinet approval had been granted for the recruitment of 23,344 graduates and other qualified personnel to the Sri Lanka Teachers' Service in order to address vacancies in national and provincial schools.
