Second Efficiency Bar Examination for Officers of the Sri Lanka Teachers’ Service
The Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education has called online applications for the Second Efficiency Bar Examination for Officers of the Sri Lanka Teachers’ Service – 2026.
This examination is for eligible officers serving in the Sri Lanka Teachers’ Service in national and provincial schools. Applicants must carefully read the official Gazette notification and instructions before submitting the online application.

Closing Date: Online applications must be submitted before 9.00 PM on 10 August 2026. Applicants are advised not to wait until the final day.
Who Can Apply?
The examination is intended for eligible officers of the Sri Lanka Teachers’ Service and provincial public-service teachers who are required to complete the Second Efficiency Bar Examination under the applicable Teachers’ Service Minute.
Teachers promoted to Class 2 Grade II are generally required to complete the Second Efficiency Bar Examination before completing four years from the date of promotion. Certain officers promoted to Class 2 Grade I subject to completing the examination may also be required to sit the examination.
Eligibility depends on the applicant’s appointment, grade, promotion date and applicable service-minute provisions. Read the official Gazette carefully or confirm eligibility through the relevant education authority.
Examination Structure

Candidates must answer all the questions in both examination papers.

Examination Medium
The examination will be conducted in the following language media:
Candidates must answer all examination papers in the same selected language medium. The selected examination medium cannot be changed later.
Examination Centres
Examination centres are proposed in 25 districts and cities, including Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Kandy, Matale, Nuwara Eliya, Galle, Matara, Hambantota, Jaffna, Mannar, Vavuniya, Mullaitivu, Kilinochchi, Batticaloa, Ampara, Trincomalee, Kurunegala, Puttalam, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Badulla, Monaragala, Ratnapura and Kegalle.
The requested examination city cannot be changed after applying. A centre may be changed to another nearby city when there are insufficient applicants.

- Open the Department of Examinations online application portal.
- Complete the online application in the English language.
- Check all personal, service, examination-centre and language-medium details.
- Submit the application before the closing date.
- Download and print two copies of the submitted application for certification and official-record purposes.
Changes made manually after printing the online application will not be accepted as valid amendments. Incomplete applications may be rejected without notice.
