Sri Lanka Principal Service Grade I Vacancies 2026

The Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education has officially announced vacancies for Sri Lanka Principal Service Grade I positions in National Schools across the island for the year 2026. These appointments aim to fill principal vacancies existing up to 31 January 2026, following the directions of the Education Services Committee of the Public Service Commission.

Eligible officers currently serving in Grade I, as well as officers qualified for promotion to Grade I by the closing date, are invited to apply. Selection will be conducted through an interview-based marking scheme considering service needs, preferences, and school requirements.

Eligibility / Qualifications

• Must be an officer of Sri Lanka Principal Service Grade I, or
• Eligible for promotion to Grade I on or before the closing date
• Must not have been declared unsuitable for principal appointments
• Must be under 58 years of age as at closing date (exceptions apply)

How to Apply

1. Prepare the application using the prescribed format on A4 paper
2. Send applications by Registered Post only
3. Write on the envelope top-left corner:
   “National School Principal Post – SLPS – Grade I”
4. Attach a recent 2½ × 2 inch colour photograph
5. Attach certified copies of appointment / transfer letters
