Assistant Engine Room Technician & Greaser Vacancies

Educational Qualifications

Applicants should have passed the G.C.E. (O/L) Examination in six (06) subjects including Language and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings.

And

Should possess a certificate for not less than 1000 Horse Power (750KW) issued by the Director General of Merchant Shipping of Sri Lanka under the 1907 Launch Ordinance.

And

Should possess a National Certificate of Technology (NCT) in the Mechanical or Shipping sector, or a certificate of a three (03) year full-time course issued by a Government Institute or an Industrial/Vocational Training Institute recognized by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission, or an equivalent certificate / NVQ Level 4 certificate.

Experience

Three (03) years of experience as an Assistant Engine Room Technician in a Government institution or recognized private institution in a similar post.

Other Compulsory Requirements

Courses in Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting, Elementary First Aid, Personal Survival Techniques, Marine English and Occupational Health and Safety should be followed within one year after recruitment, and the relevant certificates should be submitted.

Applicants should also possess good knowledge of equipment used in tugs or dredgers and their maintenance, together with knowledge of standard nautical knots, mooring and boating skills.

Salary – Assistant Engine Room Technician

Salary Code: 7.3 (T3)

Initial Salary Step: Rs. 46,665/=

Annual Increment: Rs. 1,005/=

Approximate Monthly Gross Salary: Rs. 121,000/=

Educational Qualifications

Should possess a certificate relevant to the profession or fitting sector issued by a Technical or Vocational Training Institute recognized by the Government or Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission, or a National Vocational Qualification Level 3 (NVQ 3) certificate relevant to the profession or fitting sector.

Experience

Three (03) years of experience as a Greaser in a Government institution or recognized private institution in a similar post.

Other Compulsory Requirements

Salary – Greaser

Salary Code: 10.3 (SS)

Initial Salary Step: Rs. 35,845/=

Annual Increment: Rs. 365/=

Approximate Monthly Gross Salary: Rs. 111,000/=

Age Limit

Applicants should be between 18 and 45 years of age. According to the notice, this age limit is not applicable to applicants already in Government service.

Selection Method

All applicants should pass the interview and practical test relevant to the respective post.

• Should be physically and mentally fit to perform the duties of the post and serve in any part of Sri Lanka.
• Should possess an excellent character.
• Applicants may be required to pass a medical examination where applicable.
• The posts are permanent and carry EPF and ETF benefits.
• Government or State Corporation employees should forward applications through their respective Heads of Departments or Corporations.

Important Note

According to the vacancy notice and Public Administration Circular No. 28/2016 dated 01.12.2016, where G.C.E. O/L or A/L qualifications are specified, NVQ Level 3 and NVQ Level 4 qualifications may be considered equivalent as stated in the relevant provisions.
