Admission Requirements
Applicants should possess one of the qualifications accepted by the Open University of Sri Lanka for admission to the MSc in Nursing programme.
- A Bachelor's Degree of SLQF Level 5 in Nursing; or
- A qualification of SLQF Level 6 or above in Nursing; or
- An equivalent or higher qualification acceptable to the Senate of the University.
- Selection will also be based on the selection test and/or interview.
About the MSc in Nursing Degree
The Master of Science in Nursing at the Open University of Sri Lanka is a postgraduate programme intended to strengthen advanced nursing knowledge, professional practice, research, leadership and evidence-based decision-making.
The MSc N programme is offered as an SLQF Level 10 qualification. The full master's programme has a minimum duration of two academic years. OUSL also identifies an exit point at SLQF Level 9 for the Master of Nursing qualification, subject to the programme requirements.
Main Areas of Study
According to the programme information published by OUSL, subjects include advanced nursing practice, research methodology, healthcare management, evidence-based nursing, health policy, advanced seminars and dissertation-related research.
Selection Test 2026
The published intake notice states that the MSc Nursing selection test is scheduled for 24 October 2026. The advertised time is 9.30 AM to 10.30 AM. Applicants should follow subsequent instructions issued by the Department of Nursing regarding the examination and interview process.
