About the Course

Applications are invited from eligible unmarried Sri Lankan candidates for the three-year full-time Higher National Diploma in Irrigation Technology programme conducted by the International Training Institute of Irrigation and Water Management, Kothmale.

The programme consists of a two-year residential academic training period followed by a one-year practical field training period.

Minimum Qualifications

✅ Applicants must have passed the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination in one sitting with Credit Passes in:

• Sinhala or Tamil
• English Language
• Mathematics
• Science

✅ Applicants must have passed three subjects from the Mathematics Stream at the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination in one sitting.

✅ Applicants must be below 25 years of age as at the closing date.

✅ Applicants must be in good physical and mental health.

Selection Procedure

Eligible applicants will be required to sit for a competitive aptitude test and attend an interview.

The aptitude test will have a duration of approximately one and a half hours. Candidates will be selected according to the highest marks obtained in the written examination and interview.

The online application must be completed in the English Medium.

Applicants must upload scanned PDF copies of their G.C.E. O/L certificate, G.C.E. A/L certificate and Birth Certificate.

🔹 Study-related course expenses will be borne by the Government of Sri Lanka, and residential facilities will be provided by the institute.

🔹 Selected trainees must sign an agreement to complete the full training programme.

🔹 Candidates must undergo a medical examination before registration.

🔹 Applicants must not be registered for another higher education course.

🔹 Completion of the programme does not guarantee employment from the Ministry or training institute.
