Qualifications
1. Educational Qualifications
Applicants should have passed six (06) subjects at the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination, including Sinhala / Tamil / English and Mathematics, with at least two Credit Passes, in not more than two sittings.
2. Professional Qualifications
Applicants should have fulfilled one of the following requirements:
- Completed the first year of a three-year Diploma in Library Science conducted by a university recognized by the University Grants Commission;
- OR successfully completed the first year of the three-year Diploma in Library Science offered by the Sri Lanka Library Association.
3. Service Experience
Applicants should have been confirmed in the post of Library Assistant / Library Employee in the Departmental Primary Non-Skilled (PL-01) service category of the Public Service and completed at least 10 years of active service.
Applicants who have fully completed one of the prescribed Library Science Diploma programmes and obtained the Diploma Certificate may qualify with 05 years of active service in the relevant post.
This is not an open competitive examination. According to the Gazette requirements, only eligible officers in the Public Service who satisfy the prescribed service qualifications can apply.
Age Limit
The Gazette states that the maximum age limit is not applicable for this Limited Competitive Examination.
Salary
Rs. 52,250 – 10×800 – 11×1,190 – 10×1,320 – 10×1,350 – Rs. 100,040
The post is stated to be permanent and pensionable, subject to applicable government policies and service conditions.
