Applications have been called for the Limited Competitive Examination for Recruitment to the Post of Assistant Commissioner of Labour (Departmental), Grade III of the Executive Service Category of the Department of Labour – 2026. The notice was published in the Sri Lanka Government Gazette dated 25 September 2026.

Examination Summary

Who Can Apply?

This examination is specifically for eligible officers currently serving in the Department of Labour.

• Applicant must be a Grade I Labour Officer.
• Must have completed at least 10 years of active and satisfactory service in the post of Labour Officer.
• Must have been confirmed in the Labour Officer post.
• Must have obtained satisfactory or higher performance during the immediately preceding five-year period.
• Must have earned all salary increments during the required five-year period.
• Required Efficiency Bar examinations must have been completed.
• Applicants must satisfy the disciplinary requirements stated in the Gazette notice.
• All required qualifications must be fulfilled by the closing date.

Salary Scale

According to Public Administration Salary Circular No. 10/2025, the applicable monthly salary scale is:

Written Examination

The examination will be conducted by the Department of Examinations, Sri Lanka. Candidates must sit all three papers.

Examination Medium

The written examination will be conducted in Sinhala, Tamil and English. Candidates must answer all examination papers in the same selected language medium, and the selected medium cannot be changed later.

Examination Fee

The examination fee is Rs. 1,200. Payment must be made using one of the payment methods provided through the online examination application system.

3. Read the official instructions carefully before completing the application.
4. The online application must be completed in English.
5. Complete all required information correctly and pay the examination fee.
6. Submit the application before 23 October 2026 at 9.00 PM.
7. Download and keep a copy of the submitted application as required by the Gazette notice.
