Gazette Extraordinary Amendment – Sri Lanka Teachers’ Service Recruitment 2026

The Government of Sri Lanka has issued a Gazette Extraordinary Notice amending the recruitment procedure for the Sri Lanka Teachers’ Service. This amendment introduces critical updates to eligibility criteria, qualification deadlines, and subject-wise vacancy schedules under the recruitment process.
🔔 Key Amendments Introduced
1. Eligibility for Public Service Graduates
- Graduates who were in public service on February 10, 2023 and are still in service.
- Graduates previously ineligible as of February 10, 2023, provided they:
- Were not over 40 years of age on February 10, 2023.
- Completed degree qualifications between February 10, 2023 and March 5, 2026.
- Graduates who were in public service on February 10, 2023 but have since formally resigned, provided qualifications were completed before March 5, 2026.
2. Revised Qualification Cut-off Dates
- Age Requirement: Must be fulfilled by February 10, 2023 (No change).
- Educational & Other Qualifications: Deadline extended up to March 5, 2026 (previously June 30, 2025).
3. New Vacancy Schedule – Schedule 05
The previous Schedule 05 has been completely replaced with a new subject-wise vacancy schedule covering National and Provincial Schools, categorized by province and medium of instruction (Sinhala / Tamil / English).
Eastern Province – Special Provision:
- Science
- Mathematics
- English
- Information Technology (ICT)
- Technology Stream
- Student Counseling
Applicants from outside a province will be considered only if vacancies remain after recruiting qualified permanent residents of that province.
