The Department of Agriculture, Sri Lanka has called applications for the Open Competitive Examination for Recruitment to Grade III of the Sri Lanka Technological Service for the posts of Agriculture Instructor, Research Assistant and Soil Surveyor – 2026.

According to the Gazette notification dated 07 August 2026, applications are invited from eligible Sri Lankan citizens for these vacancies. Applications can be submitted online only through the Department of Examinations online application system.

Educational Qualifications

Applicants must meet the qualifications specified in the Gazette notification. The notification specifies relevant G.C.E. (O/L) and professional/technical qualifications, including the prescribed Agriculture Diploma or relevant technical qualifications depending on the post.

For the relevant higher-level qualification route, the Gazette specifies G.C.E. (A/L) qualifications in the Science or Technology stream together with relevant professional qualifications such as NVQ Level 6, subject to the detailed requirements stated for the relevant post.

Age Limit

Examination Details

The examination is expected to be held in November 2026 in Colombo and Kandy. The Gazette states that the examination may be conducted in Colombo only if an adequate number of candidates do not apply for the Kandy centre.

The examination includes an Intelligence Test and a Subject Knowledge paper. Candidates must sit all papers in the same language medium selected when applying.
