The Bank of Ceylon (BOC) has invited applications from young, dynamic and performance-driven Sri Lankan candidates for the position of Trainee Secretarial Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity to begin a professional banking career with Sri Lanka's largest state-owned commercial bank.

Candidates who successfully complete the training period will be absorbed into the permanent service of the bank as a Secretarial Assistant Grade I.

💰 Monthly Allowance

🥇 1st Year – Rs. 45,000/-
🥈 2nd Year – Rs. 50,000/-

Paid throughout the 2-year training period.

🎓 Educational Qualifications

Applicants must satisfy ONE of the following requirements:

  • Passed G.C.E. O/L with at least 5 Credit Passes including English Language in not more than two sittings.
  • OR
  • Passed G.C.E. A/L with at least 2 Main Subjects in one sitting (excluding General English and Common General Test).
  • OR
  • Possess a Secretarial Certificate Course of minimum 06 months duration conducted fully in English Medium from a TVEC registered institution.

⭐ Preferred Experience

  • Trainee Typist
  • Secretary
  • Secretarial Assistant
  • Banking or Financial Sector Experience
  • Private Sector Administrative Experience

💻 Skills & Competencies

  • Minimum English Typing Speed of 20 WPM
  • Sinhala and/or Tamil Typing is an Added Advantage
  • Excellent Spoken & Written English
  • Knowledge of Sinhala and/or Tamil
  • Excellent Communication Skills
  • Strong Interpersonal Skills
  • Good Knowledge of MS Office Packages

📝 Selection Procedure

Paper I

  • Computer-Based English Typing Test
  • Minimum Required Speed: 20 WPM

Paper II

  • English Language Proficiency Test
  • Document Layout & Formatting Skills Test

Only candidates who pass the Typing Test will have Paper II evaluated. Final selection will be based on examination and interview performance.

🏦 Service Conditions

  • Contract-Based Non-Executive Position
  • Subject to Bank Service Rules
  • Must work beyond normal office hours when required
  • Must be willing to serve anywhere in Sri Lanka
  • Permanent absorption as Secretarial Assistant Grade I after successful completion of training
